917 miles

17 05 2010

Well that’s it, no more cycling this morning. Felt strange to get up and not have to get on the bike. We feel alot fitter, alot sorer but we have acheived our challenge which is the main thing and raised money for the centre. Once again thank you for all the sponsorship, support, encouragement and that very special Douglas welcome. Time to start dreaming of the next adventure

Emotional return

16 05 2010

Just had a fantastic welcome back to Douglas, really wasn’t expecting to see anyone but to get a welcome back from so many folks, bunting, balloons and champagne was just overwelming. Made the achy legs disapear for a moment. Thanks again to everyone for the encourGement and support, it means alot. Time for bed

We have done it

16 05 2010

Hurrah, we are here, journey completed, feel great, pretty emotional and tired and just can’t believe we have done it. Today’s inspiration was the St brides centre picture because that’s what this has been all about. Hopefully we have raised about £5000. Thanks for all the support andessahes couldn’t have done it without them.

Last breakfast

16 05 2010

Just having breakfast ready for the last push, trying to coordinate our arrival with Mum and Dads so they can see us arrive. Still can’t believe it’s the last 17 miles to go.

Saved the best till last

15 05 2010

We are in Wick, can’t really believe it, just 17 miles to go tommorrow morning. The run today was just stunning, sunny and warm, wind strong and right on our tails and I am so chugged I manajed the berrisdale brae without stopping, I have been dreading it since Lands End. The roads were quiet and the views amazing with the sea and coast all the way. Inspiration today was jim, lucys, matthew, nais and Laurasia card. It’s been great to know they have been following us on a big map all the way. Good luck to my bro for his half iroan tommorrow, that is what i call tough. Good nights sleep tonight and the finish line awaits.

Top of the brae

15 05 2010

We have just reached the top of Berriedale Braes, which we think might be the last of the big climbs on the route, and are feeling quite pleased with ourselves. Not much notable wildlife on route today, but we did see a chopper.

Sun is shining

15 05 2010

Great first hour nice and warm. Wind behind us, beautiful scenery all is well. just coming up to Golspie. Good cake in Golspie and the strong wind perfectly on our backs, just stunning the gorse is out and all is well.

Thanks ross

Thanks for your message Ross, that will help me keep pedalling today we are very tired but nearly there

Tired in Tain

14 05 2010

Early finish today, our bodies really are starting to complain, with 14 days of cycling under our belts. We completed 48 miles today and are in a hotel in Tain. We aim to cover around 60 tommorrow and then 30 on Sunday and that should be us. We really are looking forward to a rest. Today’s inspiration in the map case was Betty F,s card and we went back and reread slot of our comments today as we were tired by lunchtime.

All the best lunch spots

14 05 2010

Most spots for a break or lunch are spent in ditches on the side of busy roads, not the best!
